Acer Aspire 5532

Popped loudly and smell smoke when powering on the Acer Aspire 5532 Laptop. Now there is no picture on the screen. When a flash light is shined at the screen, some changing colors, red green etc. can be seen behind the darkness of the screen. When I attach it to an external monitor I get no picture. I do hear the fan running on power up. Any help on this would be appreciated. I hope the motherboard isn't toast, but that is what I expect.

Did you open it up, and go over every square millimeter with a microscope to see if you could find the part that went down in flames?

That's the easiest way to find the board or parts to replace. Looking at the screen has rarely told me to replace this or that unless the screen had a big crack or hole in it.

I haven't actually open the case yet to see what went up in flames yet. Going to do that soon.
