Acer forum: Acer Travelmate 2480 will not power on

I am helping a friend by attempting to clean up this old laptop which hasn't been connected to the internet in several years. He finally got Fios hooked up and I'm trying to do some housekeeping like removing programs to free up disc space, windows update and installing a Verizon Internet Security Suite.

I got ready to install the VISS and got an error that said AutoIt 1 Unable to read line 1. Made many attempts w/o any luck. I was using Revo Uninstaller to remove programs. Anyway, got frustrated and closed the lid and went to bed.

This morning I noticed that it had powered itself off and I cannot get it to come back on. When I press (or hold down) the power button - the only thing that happens is the front display light with the battery logo blinks a few times and that's it. It was plugged into a power cable all night and while I was working on it.

It is MODEL NO. ZR1

Any help is greatly appreciated.
I'm not a IT Tech by any means. I know just enough to get into trouble.
