Can't recover with new motherboard

Aspire M1100 with Windows Vista
Hi people.
I recently replaced a dead motherboard with a non Acer board. Now I can't do a system recovery. I'm told it's impossible but I'm hoping someone knows how to force the recovery files out of the recovery partition somehow.
Threats don't work!!!

Since it's no longer an Acer, the restore and the OS that came with this machine are now dead.

Just in case you need a refresher about this area, read ->

In short you obtain a new OS license or run Linux.
