gateway recovery center restore partition not recognized

Hi,
I have a Gateway GT5636e, and although my restore partition is still there, I can not restore from it, nor does the Gateway Recovery Center program recognize the partition any more. (I run multiple OS's including Ubuntu.) What I thought was the restore DVD that I made, turned out to just be the restore drivers/application DVD instead.
I know I can do a clean install, (Which I have done in the past.) but I would like to remake the original restore DVD's in case I ever sell the computer.
Any suggestions on why the Gateway Recovery Center does not recognize the partition any more?

When that dual boot and other stuff is installed I've never found a way to re-enable the recovery partition.

The CHEAPEST exit I know of is to call Gateway and order restore media.
There may be ways to fix the broken windows but your post didn't tell.
