Samsung Galaxy S® II 4G

I purchased an SII with Virgin the other day and I immediately noticed a few things that are bugging the heck out of me:

1. When on the phone, the screen goes black. Usually when you take your face away from the screen the screen will light up (sensor). This phone won't do that. My old samsung galaxy did it. I went into the Settings and messed with the Proximity Sensor

2. When receiving texts, the text counter (or whatever its called) does not show on the text envelope. If it weren't for the top envelope text notification, I wouldn't even know that I had msgs!

3. I have to hit the power button just to turn on the screen. Aren't you supposed to be able to hit the buttons at the bottom for the screen to at least turn on to the home screen?

I only have used a dozen or more android things and not one turns on when you tap those buttons. The reason is likely a simple one such as you don't want it turning on in your pocket.

It's not a problem.....

...the phones/OS was simply designed to work that way. Similar with the iPhone, there is a dedicated way to turn the display on to prevent accidentally turning it on while in your pocket. There may be an application to override it, but it isn't that way out of the box.
