Manage updates with the Download App
I have a Samsung galaxy s3 and 5 nfc tags. I would like to tap my phone on one of them and have it power down. For example before I go to bed, tap a nfc tag and have the phone turn off.
I would really like this , and no airplane mode is not good enough.

That's why you didn't find such an app today. It's not in the old API. Any such workaround would be a hack.

Like you said it would be a hack but do you think it may be Put into the new API? Or is there any hack that would do this, or a way I could do it?

I don't want to upset you but you asked if you could and if you could you would.
I don't see this in the API. As I can't guess which Android OS you actually have, I hope you understand I can't check the dozen versions today. But it's not a feature I found.
I remember a similar research on iOS and it doesn't have it either.

http://developer.android.com/reference/android/os/PowerManager.html#reboot%28java.lang.String%29 notes you passing a string but so far, now seems to be a normal reboot, and the extra args that you need to define are either "recovery", "download" or "bootloader"
I've heard the question before but this is not in the API to date.
This is why I wrote no.
