Android forum: looking to get a Android tablet ?

Now that it has Windows Excel, you moved to Windows Tablets.

This makes for a very short list indeed.

It seems that many were under some impression that Android tablets could run Microsoft Word, Excel and other Windows apps. Makes you wonder how many were bought and returned or sit in closets today.

I thought it would help if we helped you avoid wasting your money on an Android that didn't have Excel.

This revelation does tend to upset those that thought Android was the answer.

I see another mod has a site with 10 models to look at. Try those.

i have had a cheap chiniese android before and it had exel and word on it so could you explain what you mean ?

But Microsoft has not made a version of Excel or Word for Android. Are you writing that something other than Excel could be used?

I have a free application called "Quick Office" that was pre-installed in my my Android phone that does allow users to open Excel files on their mobile device. This is only a stripped down version, but there is a "pro" version available in the Android market for $14.99. Hope that helps.

....the original iPad with only a wifi connection. Didn't want to pay a monthly fee to use on a cellular network.

At the office we are working on our Android port and even I have 3 tablets on my desk right now. But if I were to buy my own I'd get the iPad.

Xoom

I have the Motorola Xoom with 3g that was upgraded to 4g. I love my Xoom because of the unbelievable capabilities and long battery life. I surf the internet and social networks, email, play word games and puzzles, take pictures, and listen to music, but am able to view any document I need to view related to my occupation.

Although I use my Kindle E-reader exclusively for reading, I can read books on my Xoom. There is an SD slot for more memory, but I will never be able to use the total capacity of memory that I have now . I can do all that I desire with my Xoom, except make telephone calls, but of course, I could use SKYPE if I really need to do so. I have just a plethora of APPS, and I am never without my Xoom. I highly recommend this tablet.
