New 50GT50 showing grain where 2010 LG 50PK250 didn't

Hi there I just bought a new Panasonic TC-P50GT50 from best buy and for some reason the picture quality isn't as good as the TV it replaced which was the LG 50PK250 plasma from 2010. I haven't changed anything else but the TV. I'm still using my PS3 as the blu ray player and some blu rays such as Avatar show a perfect image where as others like the watchmen, Iron man, Hulk, etc. show grain in the picture, where the LG didn't. I'm not sure that there's something wrong with the TV, but I'm finding it difficult to believe that one of the best Plasma's of 2012 cant stand up up to a $699 plasma from 2010. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Greg,

I had exactly the same problem, with exactly the same equipment. I sent one back and had a new one delivered few weeks back. The new one has the same problem. Bought a new HD Cable, made no difference. It looks like interference in the dark images right? Grain like you said. Have you spoke to the people you purchased it off or had any advice from anyone else?

Hey, I bought a 50gt50 and i saw the same thing youi saw but now im getting it in my 55vt50. Not sure what it is but i could really use some help because I really do like this tv except for the grainy-ness. I talked to Magnolia design center and they gave me this thing to plug into the wall then plug your surge protector in to that. It has not made any difference. please help

I have contacted Panasonic who are saying they have not heard of this issue before, get an LED. I love this TV except for this problem, shame. I did alter the picture setting and the standard Cinema setting seems to help, although it is still evident. I will let you know what response I receive from where I purchased it from, as they might sent a technician out. Out of interest what blu ray player are you using?

grain in black and flickering in dark scenes

I really like this TV and I dont want to return it. The grain I can kinda deal with, its more the random flickering on dark scenes that is driving me crazy. Any suggestions on that? Its really bad when Im watching UVerse.

Hey again and yep ive been dealing with the same exact thing. I bought the thing from Magnolia design and it did not help one bit that i can tell. I also bought a good surge protector and ran everything through that and the surge pro. plugged into the device i bought and still nothing. The surge protector that I bought also is supposed to help with this issue but i havent seen any change using both. please help anyone... i really like this tv but the random flashing or flickering is killing me.
