Connecting Panasinic TX-L42ET5E with laptop to play 3D?

I have connected my laptop to the TV with HDMI cable. The TV is a brand new Panasinic model TX-L42ET5E. My laptop is powerful too. It's HP, 8RAM, dual-core 3.20Ghz, 1GB ATI Radeon video card but NOT with 3D capable monitor (which shouldn't matter because my TV has this capability). This is the second 3D movie I am trying to play on this TV if you count the one I saw when I tested it in the store. That one played beutifully.
The player I am using to play 3D movies is ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre 3.1160 Platinum. I have downloaded a huge 40GB movie and it plays perfectlly in the player and when on the TV. You can see the red lines and that the picture is a little fuzzy when in 3D mode.
The problem is that when I put the glasses on the 3D effect doesn't happen! The glasses are tested and they work 100%, the TV is tested and it works. There is a special button on the TV remote called 3D that enables the 3D effects. Eventually what I see with the glasses is the exact same thing that I see without them, only a bit darker - that is the movie but with some the red lines and fuzziness but no 3D effect.
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? please help
