SA-BT230 Blu-ray can no longer connect to network

I bought the SA-BT230 home theatre system a bit over two years ago. I have used it rather lightly. Maybe about once a week. Recently I went to turn on VieraCast and noticed I could no longer connect to the internet. I'm pretty tech savvy so I ruled out everything that could be wrong. It wasn't the LAN cable, it wasn't the wireless adapter, it wasn't my router or internet connection. I even went over it with a Panasonic tech on the phone. The player simply wouldn't recognize either a wired or wireless connection. They said I'd have to send it back for repair. They could give me no estimate. I figure they'll just swap out the board or send a refurbished one as it's hardly worth the cost of doing technical trouble shooting on a $200 item. All shipping would be on me of course as it's one year out of warranty.
So my question is does anyone have any idea what Panasonic charges for this type of repair? I'm reluctant to send it in because I'm afraid it'll cost so much it won't even be worth it and I'd be better of just getting rid of it and getting a new Blu-ray.
Secondly, has anyone had this problem before? I'm wondering if there may be something I've overlooked. I can't even imagine what would go wrong since the net connection involves no moving parts. If I'd expect anything to go out it would be the motor that spins the Blu-ray, not anything with the circuitry when I barely even use the thing in the first place. I'm even wondering if it could have something to do with the latest firmware update.
