Problems with connecting to TV set through HDMI switch

I have a Loewe Digital 32 TV-set, which has just 1 HDMI port. So I bought an (4 way) Aten AT-VS481A HDMI-switch to connect my Apple TV 2 and my Humax TV-tuner. This works flawlessly.
But recently I bought a Panasonic blueray player DMP-DP75. When I connect it to the HDMI port of the Loewe directly, there is no problem. But when I use the Aten switch, I only succeed in seeing the movie on the TV screen every now and then.
I have tried all ports of the Aten switch, I have tried various HDMI cables. I also tried a Panasonic DVD player from my daughter. Same result. Finally, I tried an (automatic) 2-way Digitus HDMI switch. Same result. I have phoned with both the Aten and the Panasonic helpdesk, they did not understand what might cause the problem.
It's driving me crazy! Does someone please know what might be the solution? I am sick of pulling in and out HDMI plugs.

I'd try another switch.

Not all are the same and try shorter cables from the BD player to the switch and from that switch to the TV.

Remember we have no user settings here.

Another HDMI switch?

Thanks for your reply.
As you can see in my original posting, I did try another: the Digitus HDM switch; to no avail. I also tried various HDMI cables, none of them being longer dan 1.50 meters, most were shorter. So I do not feel like spending another €40 on a 'shot in the dark'.
More info: when I fire up the Panasonic, I do see the Bluray symbol on my TV screen, followed by an ocean blue screen, also produced by the DVD player. Normal this should display a little image which contains 'play', but this one doesn't. After one or two seconds, the TV screen turns black, and that's just it sad

Then the other part to return is the Panasonic.

Since it's the only part that fails, it seems to me that's the problem unit.
