panasonic Th-P50UT50Z and keyboard compatibility

Has anyone hooked up an external keyboard via USB to access internet over Viera?

Will any plug and play work? Assuming the Viera system isn't Windows friendly, Win OS keyboards won't work.

What is this Win OS keyboard?

Today's keyboards are USB HID (devices) so what is this Win OS keyboard? I don't want to offend you here but from a hardware standpoint, one USB keyboard is pretty much like the next. Your best bet is to try the USB keyboard you have now.

The basic Microsoft wireless and Logitec keyboards I looked at specifically said they required window OS and weren't compatible with Apple or Linox. As Panasonic's smart TV doesn't use Windows OS, it suggested those keyboards and mice wouldn't work.

I only have laptops, so don't have a USB keyboard. And didn't want to buy one, only to have it not work on the smart TV. Nothing in Panasonic's website or operating manual indicates which, if any, keyboards won't work.

If all keyboards work with all operating systems, as you say, then there shouldn't be an issue.

These are USB HID keyboards (period.) And the makers can not list which keyboards will work for a few reasons. One is that such a list would be very long and if they kept a short list then they may be taken to court for showing favoritism.

I've taken said Logitec and plugged them into the Apple and they work because it's just another USB HID keyboard.

I can see why many would get confused by Logitech's little white lie. Logitech has to lie because the buyer might want the software that comes from them to work on the Apple or other things.
