DMR EX77 recording resolution

The default recording resolution of my DMR EX77 DVD recorder is EP.
In normal recording a choice of XP SP LP and EP is presented so no problem there.
However I sometimes need to record from another recorder which does not have DVD writing facilities and EP mode is no good at all for this.
How do I change the default to XP or SP ?
