Like most geniuses, Jobs was one of a kind.
I bought my first Mac in 1998, just after Jobs returned to Apple. Bought stock in the company the same year @ $14 a share. As soon as I began using the Mac, after a PC, I knew Apple would be a 'comer' and eventually would dominate the 'average' user market. The iPad will do exactly that!! I just got one and it does everything anyone who wants a computer but hates having to learn to use one wants: kids, grannies, IT illiterates to name just a few. The iPhone and iPod Touch was the prototype for the iPad.
The thing I observed in Jobs was that when he didn't score a hit with a product, he revamped it and it sold. For example, the "Cube" became the Mac Mini, the Mac Mini evolved into the new iMac. The Macbook Air evolved into the iPad. With all these products, the theme was Style, Quality, Innovation. Does Tim Cook have that unique insight? Maybe, but probably not. A good business manager does not a genius make. A good business manager helps a genius thrive.
