Universal wifi/ MiFi for use during travel

I would like your recommendation for a USB 3G WIFI or MIFI to use during my travel to Asia, Europe and Middle East.Its cheaper if I buy a local 3g SIM and use it than to connect in Hotels or roaming

Would you recommend a universal 3G USB or MIFI that could be used with ANY Carrier.?thank you

I found such things to run about 1500 USD tops a month. Truly a solution for someone that has their own jet fleet.

So I went with the hotel supplied access and hot spots.
