Versiontracker is no more

The demise of MacFixit and Versiontracker is now complete. Both have been "rolled" into Cnet. No vestige of the originals remain as Cnet has corrupted both.

1. Cnet MacFixit forums don't have anywhere near the expertise of the original MacFixit.

2. TechTracker Pro sucks. I have used it for a couple of months now and it is lacking in finding all available updates. It also crashes a lot on my OS X Snow Leopard installation.

I signed up with MacUpdate yesterday. While not as complete as the old Versiontracker Pro it is way better than Techtracker.

Nice try Cnet but you completely destroyed two venerable, originally Mac only resources.

...and whenever I come in from the versiontracker.com domain, the so called "Don't show this message again" checkbox doesn't seem to have much effect outside of the current session. Come back later in the day and the message is back.

Is there a way to give this about 27 more thumbs up?
I couldn't agree more in regards to CNET's slaughter of two of my favorite and most visited sites.
What were once sites with a minimum of a visit a day (more often than not, it was 2, 3 or even 4 visits a day to both) are now MAYBE once a week visits. Versiontracker is more of a IF I think about it visits.

No More VersionTracker Page? Is it now dead & buried?

As of yesterday, the VersionTracker page is throwing 404 errors. Is this really the bitter end? Do I REALLY have to move over exclusively to MacUpdate? Say it's not so! There's a reason I've been a VersionTracker user and fan for all these years and avoid MacUpdate. Has CNET just cut its own throat by totally killing off VersionTracker? And with NO announcement?

Please tell me this is just a bad day at CNET and VersionTracker survives. I have zero interest in download.cnet.com.
