Toshiba Portege keyboard typing errors.

Sometimes while typing, the computer will substitute a number for a character or vice versa. I know I am typing the correct keys and sometimes it takes repeated times retyping to get the characters I want to register. Can someone tell me what could be causing this to happen? Thank you.

Clarification request: Does this happen in Word?

I found folk with Word and make this complaint. Word's autocorrect feature has to be turned off.

Toshiba Portege R875 typing problems

The typing errors occur mostly when typing in web pages. I have not noticed any specific applications that this happens or doesn't happen in, but I don't recall it happening in Excell.
