Laptop mousepad disabled shortly after using keyboard

Hi all,

I just got a new laptop (Lenovo Y570) and I've noticed something moderately annoying. Shortly after typing basically anything on the keyboard, the mouse seems to be disabled for a second (as though it just counts a second or so from your last keystroke before letting it do anything). I believe I have noticed this on older laptops as well, but didn't think that this was a 'thing.' Is this just to prevent accidental mousing while typing? And is there any way to change this?

It's usually a setting.

Since I can't see a link to the product manual, be sure to check any touchpad control panel.

The reason for the disable is simple. Too many calls about random cursor movements.
