Miscellaneous laptop discussions forum: I NEED URGENT LAPTOP ADVICE !!! HELP!!!

If you travel with the laptop a lot I can write that Acer seems to not hold up as well. But it's a great value. Slight nod to the Lenovo.

I'm not planning on traveling with the laptop at all. It will stay on my desktop 99% of the time. As I said I'll use it for multimedia entertainment, watching movies, web browsing and gaming on decent resolution. Maybe some photoshop as well. So performance is important to me. I'm aware of the Acer's performance and value for money and it looks great also. But, I'm concerned with Acer's quality and reliability. :/

Never needed repairs. But when subjected to daily travel and opening/closing the lid many times a day did eventually show the weakness in that area.

I had a few year old unit and my brother was in a bind so I let him have one and warned him about the hinges. He said he was going to use it on the desktop but fibbed. The hinges gave out in a year.

The machine was fine except for that. For desktop use and the usual 3 year life span for cheap laptops I don't see how this would reflect badly on that make but folk do feel the way they feel.

I also really like the Acer, but I'm not sure about the quality. It's a great value for sure especially regarding performance. But, based on everything I've read in the last couple of weeks I feel that if I buy the Acer it will go wrong in the next few days. I'm looking for a reliable laptop because I'm planning on using it at least for the next 3-4 years. I don't know if the Acer can hold up to that expectation without malfunctioning all the time. :/

top of the line the 9810 which has a 20.1" screen and is over 5 years old and never needed repairs My girlfriend has a $ 400 Acer with an i3 that is 2 years old and had no problem and she used it for graduate school in accounting.

nobody EVER wants to find out how good the company's support is they just want their pc's to work all the time. I'm happy to say I've been involved with 3 purchases of Acer's and haven't had to deal with the support. I have never purchased a Lenova or Asus so i have no experience with those. Lenova seems to be rated up there near the top in the publications I read and Acer isn't rated as high.

And another nod to the Lenovo if you are going to open and close that lid a lot.

I urgently need a projector and am willing to part with up to £150ish, next day or very very soon delivery needed. Can you recommend something?

I need one that I can connect to my laptop (compaq presario cq57) and will project video (although sound isn't needed, just the moving image) I've been on the internet for hours but am really unsure.

I just need to be able to project a silent video from my laptop onto a wall. I've been reading things about mini projectors, vga cables, sd card reader things and I'm just confused. How can I get a video from my laptop onto my wall?

Also not of massive screen size, something that can do small to big size, not just big, ie A4 paper kinda size....
This isn't the most important feature, just preferred as I'm projecting it onto some paintings and I'll have to paint the pictures to size.
