How can I get video from Firewire camera into a new laptop?

I need a new computer for video editing and would prefer a laptop. I use Canon GL-2 video cameras, importing the video via Firewire. Is there any new PC laptop that still comes with Firewire? If not, is it possible to install a Firewire card on a laptop?

The only Firewire to USB adapter I have been able to find is one made by Pixela,

But it appears that it is no longer being manufactured.

has a PCMCIA port, you might investigate firewire PCMCIA.

It never worked. PCMCIA is too slow for firewire. You'll need the slightly newer PC-Card, Cardbus or Express slots and a card for that.

In a pinch you can get the content over on another machine then ship it over to yours. Or one of these.
