advice on new laptop plz :)

Hi guys

I want to buy a new laptop but not sure what are the minimum specs needed to suit my needs.

I will mainly be using the laptop for gaming and movies and Uni stuff.

One specific question I have is: would an i7 processor benefit me over an i5 for gaming? I have heard that most games can't utilise the extra power that i7 provides so it's pointless spending more money on an i7. is this true?

other that that, please advise me on what combination of specs would be best.

I'm going with the Alienware with either i5 or i7. I like the new i7 since they have the heat under control now.
