Nikon Scanner not supported in OS 10.6.8

I have a Nikon SuperCoolscan 8000ED and am running OS 10.6.8. Nikon "support" says they no longer support the product and Nikon Scan 4.0 crashes when launched. Anybody out there have a solution

To be archived. I think you'll want to get some other machine and set it up just for this work with some OS that works with this.

alternatively, you could download a copy of Vuescan

There is a free trial so you lose nothing if it does not work.

Vuescan supports more scanners than you can shake a stick at and, as luck would have it, the Nikon SuperCoolscan 8000ED is one of them.
