Mouse and Keyboard not working

My wireless keyboard and mouse are not connecting properly with my iMac, my keyboard hasn't connected with my iMac for a couple of weeks. Then my mouse stopped working yesterday I have changed the batteries on both of them to no avail.

Magic Mouse etc.

I have had similar trouble with Magic trackpad and mouse and occasionally magic keyboard. They seem to loose connection usually on wake-up. I tried everything then at last I explored the Bluetooth preferences (In system preferences) I looked at "Advance" tab and changed the "Bluetooth-PDA-Sync" from "modem" to "RS-232". I have had no trouble since. I don't understand why this setting should apply to these items but I hope it is a permanent cure.

I did the same thing and it seemed to work. Isn't RS-232 a hardwire connection?

What that setting did.

Blue tooth has what are called PROFILES. I can only guess they didn't call them PROFILES because they wanted it to be easier on folk. The modem profile would indeed be incorrect for a mouse. And deep underneath the layers of software, RS-232 or Serial Port Profile would be exactly what the bytes to from a mouse would use.

-> And the same RS-232 PROFILE is what I use for the common Blue tooth GPS.

I, too, have an iMac- with the aluminum case- with the Magic Mouse- it worked fine until the last major Apple upgrade, Mac OS X 10.6.7 - then it started dropping the connection. Now, I can't get it to work at all. The wireless keyboard works fine, tho.

I suppose you checked the battery. I do an occasional check in preferences, so as not to be caught unawares.

Same issue since upgrading to Lion

Any update on this issue since your last post? Since upgrading to Lion, my bluetooth keyboard, mouse, and magic trackpad all lose connection once the Mac goes to sleep - the only resolution is to reboot. I have spent hours on the phone with Apple changing settings, reinstalling the OS, etc. but to no avail. Hoping you found something that works. happy
