Airport won't connect to the internet wirelessly

I've read about a thousand threads and can't seem to find a solution to my problem: my computer is able to recognize my Airport network and it has the green signal next to it with the full signal strength, but when I select it, the internet doesn't work. I'm using a Macbook OSX with an Airport Extreme.

do you have cable or DSL

How is the airport attached to your network?

What version of OS X are you using?

Signal strength will not have a lot to do with this problem

But I actually managed to fix it - I was getting so frustrated that I started just doing whatever I could and ended up doing a hard reset rather than a soft reset, reconfiguring my network, and it was back up and running.

I really appreciate the help though!

I'm a bit computer illiterate so I wasn't even sure what information that entailed :/
