Do Mac need virus protection?

I've been PC user for many years. I just got a Macbook and was wondering if virus protection was necessary for Macs.

You need if if you run Windows just like before. For Macosx there is a few trojans but you are asked to install them. My suggestion is that you don't. Given there is no current Macosx worm or virus why would you install an antivirus?

Personally I think as long as you use your pc for internet you need antivirus protection. No matter it is a desktop or latpop or macbook.

When most write "pc" they mean a "Windows pc." In the case of the MacOSX and as it stands there are no virus making the rounds. We do have a trojan but you download it and you give it permission to install. Given you have to go to that trouble its quite the rare thing.

So if there is no virus for Macosx why would I need an antivirus?
