Inspiron doesnt identify battery

i get this message
"the model number for the primary battery cannot be determined, this will prevent any battery present from charging, please insert a dell battery for best system operation, strike f1 to continue, f2 to enter setup or f5 to run diagnostics"

when i check the battery health in setup, it says "unable to identify battery"

now, this is the same dell battery that came with this laptop so wanna know if i can run any programs on it to fix this problem, thanx

Ebay a battery.

There's a small circuit in the battery pack that if it fails can cause this issue. Since you want to fix it ahead of time you'll need any dell battery for your laptop with a good circuit and then dive in with hacksaw and glue to get the old circuit out and change it on your battery.

I've yet to encounter anyone that would go so far as that.

Let's say I installed the OS per Dell's instructions but didn't have the battery in during the install. I could end up with this message in Windows.
