Problem with a laptop hard drive

Hi friends,

My laptop hard drive got damaged when I accidentally dropped it from the desk.
Now the laptop boots up to the blue screen of death. The drive is failing, it is recognized by the Windows and I can browse some what and any attempt to move files off of the drive results in an error.

Any advice appreciated.

You must have a dozen posts about damaged hard disks. Was there a tornado in your office?

-> If the files can be copied it, we put the drive into an external USB enclosure and try to copy the files out to another PC.

It is obviously, that your hard drive get bad sectors after the damage. If your data is important for you, do not attempt to get it back by yourself. There are many companies specialized in laptop hard drives data recovery. For example, www.laptopdatarecovery.ca

Failed usb memory sticks, drives that were dropped, a RAID array and more.

I can only surmise they had a tornado hit their home.
