Should I change my Vista to windows xp?

Hi. I just bought a new Compact V3000 and it came with a built in windows vista. it is unfortunate that im not that familiar with the vista. should I reformat the system and use windows xp or should i stick with the vista basic? will shifting back to xp create problems after reformatting or will it work better with xp? please help me out.

A common pitfall for some is wiping the drive and not planning how to restore the machine to factory condition. In fact by asking your question I'll write you need to keep away from installing XP. Installing XP on desktops can be hard. On laptops it's nearly a guru job from the Microsoft XP CD. Today's laptops can use SATA hard disks which may not show up when you boot the XP CD. Do you know why? If not (and this is not meant to offend you) then you are not ready to tackle such an install.

Drivers!

Not to mention that to get it certified as a Windows Vista machine, they probably changed some parts from what they used on an XP system. I would make darn sure I had ALL of the XP drivers downloaded before I tried reformating it.

I second the advice that you should get all the XP drivers for your latpop before you wipe your drive and install XP. It should be a simple matter to check your hardware while you have Vista still installed. I would not heed the FUD that you would have a lot of difficulty putting XP on a laptop. Like any computer, laptops use the same kinds of hardwar; it's only miniturized compared to desktop hardware.

Definately have the drivers at hand especially the optical drive driver. If need be you might have to dive into DOS just to get your optical drive up and running before actually installing WinXP. However I doubt very much that this will be the case it is better to be safe then sorry. I don't hink you will have any trouble at all putting XP on the laptop. XP running on a Vista built machine will be a very impressive machine expecially if this machine was built to handle Aero and other extended API's associated with Win Vista.
