Can't remove removable drive. . .

Just got a new/refurbished IBM T30. It has the UltraBay drive slot. In that slot was a DVD-ROM CD drive. It was easy to remove and worked perfectly. I purchased a DVD CD-RW drive, an exact replacement. I slipped it into the bay, XP Pro recognized it, it works perfectly. But now I can't remove it. It will come out about a quarter of an inch and appears to be locked. Browsing the IBM site is of little use.

Is there a trick short of taking it apart?

I can only suspect its a "tight fit" being so new. The shiness hasn't worn off, meaning it needs to be "broken-in" in the used mounting way. This is a physical problem. Wiggle and jiggle deftly until it frees. Debur any plastic fuzz, etc. that maybe present using a file to best reduce hangs, etc.. Next, a small dab(I use a pre-dabbed cloth) of vasoline on slide groove or pathway.

Called IBM, talked to a real tech in Atlanta that spoke English. He couldn't understand it either, the drive is the perfect match. He looked up an IBM repair vendor within ten miles of my house. Took it there, the guy took it apart, put it back together, works perfectly, all while I waited!!. He didn't know why it happened. No charge!

Bottom line, great service from IBM.
