hpzd8000 vs dell 9300 hmmm

by CriticalLook - 11/11/05 6:54 PM

well i havent bought any of these laptops yet but im going to and pretty soon. Just have to make a choice now. im not prejudiced agaisnt either computer companies.

i first considered getting the 9300... that is until of course i realized that a lot of them had faulty screens. some reviews claimed all of them others said it was (4/5) but the risk is way too high anyway, i dont want this to be a lottery, i also heard some ugly issues with the resolution. i really like the idea of a mobile chip and inceased battery life, lighter weight and yet... i lean towards the zd8000. to tell you the truth, i simply cant accept the idea of buying a laptop from a company who takes me for a fool and thinks that it can put in a screen with a light leak in it and get away with it. To all of those who claim that it is "very minor and is barely noticed" - i dont care, its a manufacturing problem, if they cant get THAT right, well then they wont have my business. this is USA not zimbabwefor pete's sake, i expect a product operate the way its supposed to. what is even more ridiculous is that the bad screen issues usually come with the more expensive display, so what are people really paying for ?

well lets look at the zd8000 now. Heavy? yes, short battery life? yeah that too... but i need the laptop mostly for gaming/dvds. it just offers so much for not that high a price. i figure if i can have all of that performance for just these negatives then so be it. ill probably buy another battery once i go to college and 2 should cut it for me. as for the heat, well if im going to be gaming then the laptop will have to be on a table anyway, id feel silly sitting with it on my lap and with a mouse on a couch. so i guess it wont be a problem for me. as for the weight issue, 9.3 pounds isnt all that much , i tried lifting a 10 lbs dumb bell and it seemed relatively light. i know it is a lot compared t other notebooks but i have never seen another notebook with such specs.

Well i also checked out the hp site.. and their customizing process is very easy. i think ill go with the hp.

im not considering getting a gateway, forget that, my friend go a gateway desktop recently and he cant even play wc3 tft cause it wont install. my 399 dollar dell desktop can do that. gateway has lost my trust.
