What is your opinion on the best anti-virus program?
While Webroot is a fine product, as stated above, no one anti-virus is perfect. The closest is Avast and even the Avast Free version gives more protection than any other free version and more than many paid versions.
My suggestion is to use Avast Free, which will give you a great resident anti-virus program, along with Malwarebytes Antimalware (MBAM) free version which is not resident but on-demand. Install Avast Free after completely removing Webroot and then install MBAM.
Avast Free will automatically update both the program and the virus definitions as long as the default settings are not changed in a way that stops these auto functions.
Since MBAM free version is on-demand only, it will need to be updated at least weekly after which a quick scan should be done. A full scan is not needed unless a problem is highly suspected.
I hope this helps you.
