sony wega KDF-E50A10

HI,

I have a sony wega KDF-E50A10 for almost 3 years now (buyed used) and everything fine until last couple month. The screen begin to take gradually a yellowish tint and now she have a couple of blue spot everywhere in it. I check on the web and i found that it's certainy the optical block engine and it's almost 800$!! Do i have another way to resolve this problem that seem to be a ''design flaw''?

Replacing the engine when a part fails seems odd.

I'd talk to your TV repair person why they are replacing the entire engine.

No repair person came at home. I just talk to him by phone.
Somethingelse to do?
It's seem to be ''usual'' on this model. They said that the optical block literaly burn the screen!

I'm just an electronics designer and rarely do TV repairs. It's not that I can't, it's the next thing you know your garage is full of them and folk demanding to know when theirs will be done. So I'll stick to designing electronics and software and handing out some advice.
