System: Sony VAIO TX 770P
Model: PCG-4G1L
OS: Win7 or Urbuntu 11.10
Current HDD: Toshiba HDD1584 (MK8007GAH) - 50pin

I am looking to leverage some lessons learned for converting my Sony VAIO TX770P from the TOSHIBA Disk Drive (MK8007GAH) to a KingSpec SSD.
Throughout the lifetime of this little VAIO, I've replaced the HDD twice. This will be the 3d and decided on SSD.I have not yet purchased the drive, so I have some flexibility. Size of the drive is not important as the computer is going to primarily leverage Cloud services.
My perfect would would be to simply pull the defective Toshiba HDD (50-pin) out and replace it with a SSD without new connectors. I'm not certain if this is possible.
Regarding the OS, I may run Win7 or Ubuntu 11.10.
Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
