Sony forum: 2007 KDS-60RXBR2- Now on third optical block.

Thanks for your reply. When I was researching the optical block problems for our XBR1 purchased in 2005, I found that Sony extended their warranty until 2009. At that time I heard about the class action lawsuit and put my name on the list.

When Sony sent us the refurbished XBR2 in 2007, I was told that it had a new redesigned optical block and that the green blob would no longer be a problem. Sony settled the class action lawsuit for the XBR1 TV's but there still is a class action lawsuit for the XBR2 TV's.

I found a website that lists the TV's in question, and it is very helpful, I followed the link to the lawyer's site, and listed my name again for the lawsuit for the XBR2. Sony has extended the warranty for the XBR2 until June, 2010. I sent two letters to the CEO of Sony and to their Executive Review Committee (with tracking numbers). The CEO never responded, but the review committee had a representative call me with the first offer on the 55 inch TV. My second letter is still in review, and they have stalled for a month saying that they still don't have any 60 inch TV's to offer me.

If Sony does not come through with a model that we are willing to pay for then we will have them repair our XBR2, use it for a while until the new LG's, Samsung's, and other LED manufactures come out and then buy one.

Sony is obligated to repair your TV under the extended warranty, at no cost to you, have them do it. Call customer service department and get an "Event Number" and have your TV repaired and then decide latter if you want to replace it or sell it in good working condition.
