In some control panel you can set the alarm and shutdown to some PER CENT of the Battery. My brother did muck that up so I had to look for that and change it back to 10%

The computer(the same HP dv6000) shut down in about 10 minutes after starting up with a full battery charge and could not be turned on again with the battery power alone.
Later, I found that the battery power dried up very fast and its capacity down to about 60% in 10 minutes.
I just couldn't figure out if the problem caused by motherboard or the battery alone.

The dv6000 models are well past the date that we expected the battery to last so here's the deal. Most folk will never put in a new battery when it's called for. And no shop I know of will loan you a battery.
Then we have the dv6000 story. It's not a good one.
You'll have to tell me this battery is less than a year old to make me think it's the motherboard.
