HP Officejet j4580

I'm new to this forum and I hope I could get some one to help me on this one because it's difficult. I have a officejet j4580 that's giving me a "Scanner Failure. Unable to scan, copy or send a fax" error. What can I do to fix it when I've already tried resetting it? Thanks!

1. See if this model has a scanner carriage lock. Often it's there for shipping but do check (I didn't look at the manual or hp site).

2. Head to hp.com, find your model and look at the troubleshooting there.

3. If this is over 2 years old, prepare to replace it since repairs exceed replacement costs.

Do you have any idea where that might be and how to unlock it? This didn't start until I opend it up to blow compressed air over the sensor that was giving me a paper jam error when there was no paper that was stuck. I fixed that issue and I even got it to print now but now the scan error is coming up.

But I did not go to HP.COM to see if there was anything beyond the norm. At 2 years plus I do give it a go then start shopping.
