Using Vegetable Oil or Olive Oil to Lubricate Printer?

I have an HP Officejet V40 printer.
I wanted to lubricate the stabilizer bar since it was making some rough sliding noises. I have heard that I should use sewing machine oil, or white lithium oil, but since I have none of those, do you think it is okay for me to use a drop or two of vegetable oil or olive oil to lubricate the bar?
I have also heard that WD-40 is not recommended to lubricate the bar because it is petroleum based.
*Note: The stabilizer bar is what the printer cartridges slide on.
