Blue-ray movies don't work in HP Pavillion dv7...

I recently attempted to use a newly purchased Blue-ray movie in my notebook and could not get the hardware(Optiarc BD ROM BC-5500S) nor the software (Quickplay 3.7) to recognize or play the movie. My OS is Vista 64 BIT and has the latest drivers for both and HP does not have a patch or update for software, firmware or hardware to enable me to fix my own problem. I don't understand. Even more so, I am in the U.S. Military and deployed to Baghdad, Iraq. My warranty is up in about 100 days so I can "Thank God" for still a liitle reaction time. Any positive and helpful thoughts?

Please forgive me for stating the obvious but sometimes we do overlook the simple things:
1.Is your computer supposed to be capable of playing Blue-ray discs?
2. Will it play regular DVDs?
3. Have you tried your Blue-ray disc in a different player?
4. If Blue-ray movies are like DVDs, they come in regional versions. A regular DVD player won't play DVDs from a region different from the one the player was designed for. Did your Blue-ray movie come from the States?

The answer is "yes" to all questions.
Since the posting of my initial email:

HP Tech Support sent me a link for MediaSmart Software (allows playing of movies etc, including Blue ray disks)...BUT, "THIS SOFTWARE DIDN'T WORK EITHER"

I have tried playing the Blue-ray movies in another HP Notebook on display in a local store and learned the problem is not the disk, but really is my HP Notebook.

Regional codes are not the issue. I shop for the Blue-ray movies only at the Army and Air Force Exchange Services also known as AAFES stores on my Base Camp. All there movies are obviously for the U.S.A. This is not the problem.

Still no luck. Can anyone help me?

I had the same problem with an Acer during the HD wars.

This was before Bluray was declared the winner and I had a HD player and I couldn't get HD DVD's to play until I purchased Cyberlinks HD player. Now they have a product called PowerDVD it runs 62.95 for delux and 89.95 for the Ultra version.
