Answers, but first a piece of advice
Yes, that is very good advice. What happened is, I wrote the first question and then realized when I went back to the page of questions that the way I had presented my question had nothing to do with what I needed to know. I then attempted to delete that question to make a better one and could not find a place to do this. I think you may have started to realize that I am an older person, a Grandmother and not so swift with all the new technologies and upgrades to same, sorry. I began on computers when they were put out by IBM as word processors. So, I'm close to ancient.
So, if I understand you correctly, that this unit I've purchased is viable and if I copy the entire MacBook onto the My Book, then it will be a bootable device. The reason I am so keen on obtaining a bootable unit or cd is because of the hackings on my pc's. If I had not had bootable disks, I would have been totally out of commission, and I never want to be put in that position if my MacBook is ever compromised.
Thank you so much for your help.
