Do you have a "Reading pane"?
Is your Mail window divided into three columns?
Mailboxes | Mail Headers | the actual email
Is your mail window just two panes, Mailboxes | Mail Headers, with rows of emails which you have to double click to read?
If the latter, take your cursor over to the right hand edge of the Mail window. Halfway down the right edge you will see a little dot. Take your cursor there.
Now you have a choice. Carefully move the cursor around the dot area and the cursor should change. When it does, double click the mouse. This should shift the columns so that you have three. (See above) Grab the left edge of the column and move it more to the left until you can read the selected email.
Deleting that email will automagically bring up the next one.
Is that what you are after?
