New Mac users forum: problems with screen color extremely light

problems with screen color extremely light

I'm on a mac book pro 2009.
I cant figure out how to get whats displayed on the screen to darken. fonts are faded out and boxes for filling out information are completely not visible in most cases. I've tried the calibration application and it had no effect.
I'm certain it isn't a problem with the screen itself. Mainly because the problem only began when I woke up one morning a few days ago to discover that during the night my cat decided to use the computer and I had left myself signed in so kitty had free reign and trust me she had a ball that night
I looked at the color sync utility and the display preferences and settings but nothing jumps out at me, but then again it's not like I know what I'm looking for
thanks for any thoughts on how to fix this.

to your computer.

As a long shot, try zapping the PRAM.
Shut down the Mac. Restart and immediately hold down the Control + Command + P + R keys,
(you might want to practice finger placement first)
Keep all 4 keys down until you hear two more startup chimes.

Make a difference?

If no, try creating a new admin account on that machine and log into it. Video OK now?
