I am going to order a Macbook Air and need some feedback on whether Applecare is generally worth the $250.

It's not very much to pay for peace of mind. Apple can charge a lot if you are out of warranty....

Some reasons why I am thinking of skipping extended warranty
- simpler set of hardware components: no DVD drive, no hard drive (solid state more reliable)

Some reasons why I would consider it:
- If Mac laptops run hot. I do not know how hot the MBA is but I have read of some software issues that look like it heats up. I also read about a guy who plays games for hours with his laptop CPU running at 99C. (If I was him I'd consider it.)
