Trying to install AVG anti-virus, but downloads ARO-Why?

I already have installed on my computer an AVG free anti-virus which lasts for 30 days. I now have about 19 days left remaining. But I saw an ad for free 2013 version for AVG and while installing it, I noticed CNET shows another company ARO 2012. I only need AVG. Can you help?

You're not very clear.
- As far as I know the free version of AVG doesn't time out. Maybe you installed a trial for the paid version in stead of the free version?
- What does "shows" mean? Where is it shown? And is it only shown or is it also downloaded and installed?

Anyway, download free AVG from free.avg.com. You'll see a program called PCTuneUp on their homepage also, but that's an unrelated program.
And be sure to uninstall your current AVG program before installing the free version you download.

your story is incomplete in the middle.
1. You see an ad for AVG.
2. You go to the page the ad points to.
3. You click on the download link and download the setup program and save it on the hard disk.
4. You run the downloaded setup program to install AVG.

Your story jumps from #1 (saw an ad) to the last part of 4 (installed).

Can you tell more about what page you went to, what you clicked on and what program was downloaded to your hard disk.

I seem to remember a discussion about a somewhat misleading ad for ARO (including a download link inside the ad) on some download pages , resulting in people accidentally clicking the wrong download link and getting ARO in stead of the program they wanted to download.
If that's the case here also, the answer to your "why"-question is easy to give: because you clicked on the "download ARO button".
