Bye, bye versiontracker.com

Unfortunately versiontracker.com passed away today. Although versiontracker.com and Versiontracker Pro were always a little behind MacUpdate (and not quite as up-to-date), it was a very convenient way to keep track of the software. But the new layout and tecjhtracker are extremely confusing and lack many, many items versiontracker could deliver.

I will NOT let techtracker scan my software online without standalone/local software.

Therefore: Bye, bye versiontracker!

P.S. I already subscribed to MacUpdate. Works fine!

this is such a sad day. i've been using versiontracker.com for my daily updates for 15 years. first macfixit, now versiontracker. cnet, why do you have to take great things and turn them into mediocrity? macupdate.com, here i come.

I don't care about the name but.

The ability look up on and download older versions of the software: gone.
Extra steps to see recently added software: check.
Renaming Freeware, Shareware, Commercial, Beta, etc.: (rolling eyes)

Hardly an improvement...

versiontracker.com was much better...

CNET, change for change sake isn't always better. The simple design and colors of versiontracker.com always allowed me to quickly see what programs have changed, especially popular key programs (highlighted in blue, the rest in black). Now, the list is smaller and colorfull, but very difficult to read and quickly browse. I guess that is good for your advertisers, but not for the end user. Macfixit.com was butchered too. updates are too infrequent, and your weekly diagnostic segment is nothing more that a marketing tool. You've now demonstrated that CNET is only interested in destroying good sites for it's own self interest.
A sad day indeed.

Loss of a resource; end of an era

I was horrified to discover that my weekly VersionTracker update didn't appear in my Inbox yesterday. Tried going directly to VersionTracker.com and...AAACCCKKK!!! ...this CNET abomination appears. Feh!

I'm not opposed to change for the better, but change for the worse is intolerable. So many of VersionTracker's useful features have been utterly wiped out. What happened to all the reviews? The site is ugly, hard to read, and impoverished of functionality. What a travesty. No, wait...what a crime!

Shame on you, CNET. Shame!

What the hell happen here, the Window approach for seeking Mac software.
Everything that made VersionTracker great is gone. Keep the new name and go back to what it was.

I'm going to MacUpdate as well. I used VT for more than 12 years, but between the horrible look, excessive cnet pop-ups, bottom bar, etc., I can't take it.
