Will iMovie crop 624X480 size video if making 1080p project?

I am making iMovie projects with 8mm footage that was digitized. The video image size is 624 X 480. If I make a 720p or 1080p project with this footage will the image be cut off at the top and bottom? If so, how can I avoid this?

My next step is to share the projects with the media browser so I can create a DVD with iDVD.

try it on a shor clip and see if the problem occurs

if it does, do not use the Wide Screen option
