Hope this helps.
Getting a background on green screen is not a very easy task in iMovie. You will get a small preview when you move the sliders, you will get a small window that shows what you will be extracting. It is important to know how these sliders function because the entire process depends on them as far as quality is concerned.
The slider needs to be set in such a way that only black of green is seen. the part that we want to make it appear in the final file is controlled by inside fill. adjust the slider to mask properly and to make sure that foreground is solid white color. use choke to cut from the edges.this helps when the edges are not smooth. This should give you some idea on how to bring background on the green screen. hope i explained it properly.
