I just can't get it done.
My document is divided into sections (for each chapter), after Chapter 1, when I go to insert endnote numbers in the text, it just continues numbering from Chapter 1.
So what I need is:
1) numbered endnotes in each chapter of the text, with endnotes at the end of the document starting at 1 under each Chapter heading ...
2) I need the pages to be numbered continuously.
No matter what I try, I can do one, but not both.
Help??!!

Is this on the iPad?
You didn't say but I thought it was for a simple reason that I'm encountering folk that do run that on the iPad and then discover it's not as capable as other word processors.
When it comes to heavy work, you may want Word or LibreOffice. More at http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/installation/mac/

Without a printer driver we can't determine exactly how the stuff falls on the page so we can't do DTP (remember that?) on devices that didn't print.
It appears you are about to learn more.

Tablets are nice but I'm encountering folk that think or thought they would be as capable as a laptop.
The lesson about this appears to be that more folk will have to learn that this new platform is new and may take awhile to catch up.

from the link you gave me -
"To restart mark numbering:
Choose Restarts on Each Page or Restarts for Each Section from the Numbering pop-up menu in the Document pane of the Document Inspector."
But it still numbers the endnotes continuously ... the mark numbers in the text, and in the list of endnotes at the end of the document.
Beats me, LOL!
