Calibration graphs on Numbers

I am new to Numbers and need help to understand the difference I found today between an equation generated in Excel and the one generated in Numbers. I was making a graph to show potentials against the log of an ion concentration. Excel gave it to me right away in the lab, but at home I got an entirely different answer in Numbers.

Any ideas? I would love to stick with one spreadsheet program, preferably mastering iWork.

Hi R. I had two short columns of values x axis is the log of solution concentration, and y axis is the potentials from the ion selective electrodes (I was measuring fluoride content).
0.70 0.190
1.00 0.175
1.40 0.153
1.70 0.137

When I put this values in the graph for Excel, I got the equation : Y= -0.0533x + 0.2277
When I came home and put the same values into Numbers, I got - well I just rechecked and got the same value. I must have chosen the wrong type of chart. New days bring new solutions.

Anyway R, if you have words of encouragement as to why I should use Numbers over Excel, I am open to hear what you have to say.

Because Microsoft Excel uses the same files and code under the hood.

Then again you could try Open Office which mimics Excel in other ways and is free.
