Microsoft XP package. Have updated itunes to 11.01. Able to copy prior to update 11.0

but I can export as a txt file and copy that into a Word Doc.

How what? The 'export part' or the 'copy into a Word doc' part. That are 2 different steps. Not clear from your post which of the 2 you need help with.
If that happens to be Word, please tell what version you have (Word XP, 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013)?

In iTunes, select the playlist you want to support.
From the menu bar, choose File > Library > export Play list
Choose .txt as the file type, give the file a name and choose the desktop as the destination. Click Save
Once done, open Word, any version.
Choose File > Open and navigate to the desktop and find the file you just created.
Select it and click open

That's it
