Itunes folder huge

Howdy

Recently I had to reinstall windows. Before I did this I had to backup my iTunes. I followed some tutorial on the internet in which I consolidated my music to the iTunes folder in "My Music".

One of the problems with my computer at the time was my mouse and everything else was freezing. So it would get part way through the consolidation process and freeze. Hence I ended up consolidating about 3 times until I completed the process.

The problem is now the iTunes folder is huge. It is 63Gigs. Considering there was only 900 odd songs and half a dozen movies don't you think the size is excessive.
My question is how do I fix this?

If the movies are in HD they can run up to a few gigs each, and if you have 6 then theres ~15-20 gigs of data alone - the remaining 40-45 gigs are a mystery, especially since the average mp3 file is about 4mb's, and if you have 900 of them then that should only account for ~4gigs

So approximately 40gigs of data in that file are a mystery

Since you only have half a dozen movies, could you account for us the total amount of space these movies take up?

That way we can identify where the problem is

itunes folder

Ok here it is.

From the iTunes folder.

Movies 28.2 gig, Music 25 gig. Mobile Apps 2.63gig.

This is my daughters iTunes but it is on my PC. The amount of songs could be right. From iTunes itself down the bottom. It says there are 1280 songs 7.13 gig
